How to Switch Your FCC Agent for Service of Process
To switch FCC agents, sign a new designation with the new agent, then submit the change through the FCC's Equipment Authorization System within 30 days, with the required certifications (47 CFR 2.929(c)). TCBs update existing grants for equipment still being marketed, so plan the change with your TCB.
Steps
- Sign the new agent designation and Covered List attestation
- Ask your TCB how it will update existing grants (TCBs may reopen a grant to supersede the old letter)
- Submit the change through EAS within 30 days (47 CFR 2.929(c))
- Keep the old agent until the change is accepted, then give notice under their contract
Remember
- You must keep an agent for at least one year after you permanently stop marketing and importing the equipment in the U.S., or after any FCC proceeding ends, whichever is later (47 CFR 2.911(d)(7))
